The oil based finish and the water based finish have some differences.  Here are some of the differences.

If you like the look of the oil based, but want to have the water based finish, we can apply a natural stain to make the floor look like an oil based finish-with more character.

Here is a picture to show you how we can make water base look like an oil base finish.

Some other differences in oil based and water based finishes are:

Oil base finish:
dries in 8 to 10 hours (maybe more-depending on humidity)
toxic fumes that stay in the home up to 10 days, sometimes longer
no rugs for 14 to 16 days (again depending on humidity)
getting a motel for the refinish process is almost always necessary
you may not want to leave animals in a basement or room away from the hardwood

Water base finish:
dries in 2 to 4 hours
no toxic fumes
no rugs for 7 days (so the floor is completely cured)
you would not have to get a motel room during the refinish process
you could leave animals in a basement or room away from the hardwood
